U9 Vipers
Rotherfield made another quick start this week; after some good pressure, a United player was fouled on the edge of the penalty area. Jack Stevens stepped up to take the free-kick and gave the Wanderers keeper no chance with an unstoppable top-corner strike. He was unlucky not to add a second just a few moments later after Harry Sayer went on a great run, picked out Jamie Hammant-Cracknell who in turn found Stevens whose shot struck the Woodley post.
Wanderers were soon on the offensive themselves, but some tidy goalkeeping by Daniel Jordan kept them at bay. Eventually though, wanderers carved out their equaliser when a good low drive found the bottom corner of the Rotherfield goal. United however were back in front before the break when Stevens turned provider this time, picking out fellow front-man Owen Lowe who made no mistake from close-range.
After half-time, Woodley continued to press but Jack Williams and Kalhan Shah were composed in the United defense and seldom looked troubled. It wasn't long before Rotherfield were able to extend their lead; Lowe received the ball, rounded the last defender and fired in for his second. Minutes later he completed his hat-trick with a deft first-time touch from a dangerous corner. There was still time before the end for Lowe to net his fourth after another confident run ended with a competent finish.
The fairplay award was given to Jack Williams for an assured and disciplined defensive performance.
