Rotherfield United 5 Woodley Wanderers 0
April 28th 2007

Rotherfield got off to the best possible start this week with two goals in the first two minutes. The first came from a well-worked short-corner; Liam Ruiz and Adam Fearnside exchanged passes and the resultant cross was fired into the net at the far-post by Jamie Hammant-Cracknell with his first touch of the game. United surged forward after the kick-off and the ball fell again the Hammant-Cracknell who shot past the advancing keeper to add the second with almost his second touch of the game.

Minutes later, Fearnside added a third with a long-range effort after another astute Ruiz short-corner and then Harry Sayer made it four when he finished well after a driving run all the way from his own half.

After the half-time break, a Douglas Manley pass found Fearnside on the wing who crossed for Hammant-Cracknell at the far-post whose shot was well-saved by the 'keeper, denying him his hat-trick. Mid-way through the half through, Fearnside did grab a fifth after the ball broke free at the halfway line and he was able to run unopposed to the Wanderers goal and slide it into the bottom right corner.

Woodley kept battling and forced a succession of corners towards the end of the match, but Kalhan Shah and Isaac Hylton dealt with the threat comfortably in the Rotherfield defense. Right at the death, Jack Williams was unlucky not to add a sixth with a shot from the edge of the box which just shaved the base of the right-hand post.

The effort award was given to Jamie Hammant-Cracknell for a dynamic attacking performance.

Well done lads! This was a pleasing performance with plenty of passing and showed what can be achieved when you utilise the skills that we're trying to develop in training.
