Rotherfield United 5 Woodley Town Kestrels 2
January 28th 2006

Straight from the kick-off, the ball found its way to in-form target-man Jack Stevens, who promptly slotted it past a stunned Woodley keeper to give Rotherfield the lead after no more than ten seconds. Rotherfield continued to press forwards, forcing several corners, but had to wait until the tenth minute to make it 2-0 when Stevens struck again, making it eight goals in three games for him.

Substitutes Owen Lowe and Adam Fearnside entered the action and had an instant impact; Lowe was brought down on the edge of the area after a skilful run and Fearnside made no mistake with the free-kick, firing high into the net from distance. Just before the break, Nick Swan capped another fine display by him with another goal, making it 4-0 at half-time.

Another Rotherfield attack straight after the restart saw the ball drop to Owen Lowe inside the penalty area and it was his turn this time to fire past the keeper. Woodley however had not given up and were rewarded a few minutes later when they broke away and scored, making it 5-1. More pressure followed and when a fine Kestrels shot hit the base of the Rotherfield post, one of their strikers was on hand to tuck away the rebound and grab their second goal. Keeper Douglas Manley's brave attempt to keep the ball out unfortunately saw him pick up an injury and Rotherfield were forced to use a reserve goalie for the rest of the game.

With just a couple of minutes to go, Liam Ruiz was unlucky to not make it six when a long-range effort sailed just wide. It finished 5-2, Rotherfield now with four wins in four.

The fairplay award was given to Jack Stevens for another fine striking display.
