Rotherfield were on the offensive right from the kick-off with shots from Jack Stevens and Harry Sayer close to giving them the lead, but both were well saved. A Morgan Green shot was equally well kept out, but Jamie Hammant-Cracknell collected the rebound and coolly slotted it past the 'keeper into the far bottom corner to give United the lead. Moments later, Sayer added a second with a fierce strike into the roof of the net from the edge of the box.
Maidenhead came close to getting one back before the break with a shot to the bottom corner but 'keeper Isaac Hylton got down well to his right to keep it out.
After half-time, Rotherfield kept up the pressure and Green was unlucky not to add a third when a low goal-bound shot was well saved by the Maidenhead 'keeper. United were then awarded a penalty after a hand-ball inside the area; Stevens struck the spot-kick firmly but was denied by another good save.
Despite having been on the back foot for much of the game, Maidenhead kept battling and their resilience eventually paid off when they got a goal back with a well-struck shot to the top corner. Visibly buoyed by their success, they were in the ascendancy and more pressure led to an equaliser with five minutes to go. With the game in the balance and just moments left, substitute Adam Fearnside made a dramatic late impact for United by snatching the winner with a long distance strike.
The effort award was given to Jack Stevens who worked tirelessly throughout.
