Rotherfield United 9 Hurst Romans 0
February 25th 2006

This week, Rotherfield opened the scoring in the fourth minute when a Morgan Green corner was turned in from close range by Adam Fearnside. Nick Swan was on hand a few minutes later to capitalise on more United pressure, firing in from a few yards out. He didn't have to wait long for his second either, scoring from the edge of the box with a firm drive to make it 3-0.

Another Morgan Green corner five minutes before the break caused the Hurst defense all sorts of problems; the ball fell to Adam Fearnside who sidestepped the oncoming defender and fired low into the goal to add Rotherfield's fourth. There was just time before half-time for Swan to complete his hat-trick with another good strike from the edge of the area.

For the second-half, Hurst made a couple of changes and came out looking lively; a strong run down the left looked dangerous, but Kalhan Shah was on hand to make a last-ditch tackle for United and knock the ball out for a corner. When the ball came across, Fearnside intercepted and ran the length of the pitch to knock in Rotherfield's sixth.

United continued to press, and Jack Stevens added a cheeky seventh when he knocked the ball past the retreating Romans' 'keeper, who had been struggling get the ball clear due to the gusting winds.

The last five minutes saw two more Rotherfield goals; Liam Ruiz was on target again for the second week in a row and Stevens grabbed his second of the game just before the end.

Rotherfield played well as a unit this week, showing some good passing and awareness. The fairplay award was given to Morgan Green for an impressive all-round performance.
