Rotherfield United 6 Hurst Romans 1
January 21st 2006

Rotherfield made a commanding start to the game, wasting no time in laying siege to the Hurst goal. Some good passing carved a succession of opportunities for the front men, but the Hurst 'keeper was in good form and made a string of commendable saves. It wasn't long however before striker Jack Stevens broke the deadlock, firing the ball home from close range. A few minutes later he added a second, taking his tally to six in two games. By now, Rotherfield were in full flow; two more goals followed from Adam Fearnside, making it 4-0 at half-time.

Hurst came out fighting in the second-half and within two minutes pulled a goal back after a goalmouth scramble. More pressure followed, but a good save from Douglas Manley in the Rotherfield goal kept the score at 4-1. Rotherfield were soon back in control when midfielder Nick Swan continued his recent goalscoring run, beating the Hurst 'keeper with a firm drive. A few minutes later, he added another after a great one-two with striker Liam Ruiz. Ruiz himself was close to adding a seventh late on with a long-range speculative effort but was unlucky to see it go just wide. A good all-round team performance, leading to a 6-1 victory and third successive win.

The fairplay award was given to Adam Fearnside for a committed display.
