U9 Vipers
Rotherfield were keen to make amends after last week's defeat, with Jack Stevens opening the scoring inside the first thirty seconds following a strong run from Nick Swan. Stevens hit the post a few minutes later and Adam Fearnside was on hand to tuck away the rebound to make it 2-0. The third goal was not long in coming, with Stevens getting his second, this time from close range.
Soon after, Fearnside picked up the ball at the half-way line, ran through the Woodley defense and slotted it past the keeper for his second; The hat-trick was complete when a carbon-copy goal followed, making it 5-0. Rotherfield were flying and grabbed a further three goals before half-time with Nick Swan firing in from a tight angle, Stevens completing his hat-trick with an emphatic drive, and Swan knocking in his second from the edge of the box.
Not long into the second-half, Owen Lowe added another with a cool finish from inside the area. Woodley then conceded a penalty for handling inside the area; Liam Ruiz struck it well but the keeper made the best save of the day to keep it out. Stevens added another from a tight angle and Morgan Green knocked in his first of the season to make it 11-0. With a few minutes to go, Ruiz finally notched up his first of the season too, slipping the ball through the advancing keepers legs.
There was still time for one more and Stevens saved his best for last, knocking the ball around one side of the last defender and then nipping around the other to fire past the goalie. The fair-play award was given to Kalhan Shah for a patient and disciplined defensive display.
