Rotherfield United 14 Woodley Wanderers 0
January 14th 2006

Rotherfield got off to a flying start this week with two goals in the first five minutes from midfielder Nick Swan. Newly-formed Woodley Wanderers defended in numbers but once Brett Gardner had added a third, Rotherfield were in control and playing with confidence. Defenders Kalhan Shah and Morgan Green showed good discipline at the back for Rotherfield but rarely looked troubled, easily coping with everything that Woodley were able to muster. Jack Stevens added a quick-fire hat-trick and further goals followed for Gardner and Swan. Owen Lowe looked sharp in his first outfield appearance of the season and he soon added another to the tally, leaving Rotherfield 8-0 up by half-time.

In the second-half, Woodley kept fighting but Rotherfield proved too strong, with more goals following from Adam Fearnside, Kalhan Shah, Jack Stevens and two from Nick Swan. Harry Sayer and Liam Ruiz kept the opposition at bay in midfield although Woodley were unlucky not to get a goal back in the last few minutes; a strong run from the half-way line ended with a fine save by the Rotherfield keeper, enabling the team to keep a clean-sheet, finishing up 14-0 winners.

The fair-play award was given to Nick Swan after some fine passing and team-play.
