U9 Vipers
Rotherfield were keen to be back in action after a two week break and wasted no time in pressurizing the Woodley goal; After just five minutes Jack Stevens opened the scoring with a characteristic drive which gave the Hammers' keeper no chance.
Nick Swan and Liam Ruiz were commanding in midfield, winning tackle after tackle and keeping Woodley pinned in their own half. Rotherfield were creating plenty of chances, and eventually the second goal came when Adam Fearnside intercepted a short clearance and tucked it past the stranded goalkeeper. Just before the break United grabbed a third when defender Morgan Green popped up in the area to score his second of the season.
Rotherfield continued to press in the second-half and added a fourth goal when Fearnside capitalised on another short clearance by the Hammers' keeper. Woodley however stuck to their task and some committed defending stifled a succession of Rotherfield opportunities. There was still time for one more goal though and United had saved their best until last; Fearnside ran through the middle and slipped the ball between two Woodley defenders to find a perfectly placed Stevens who made no mistake in notching up his twentieth of the season.
Assured defending by Kalhan Shah, Jack Williams and Harry Sayer ensured that Rotherfield keeper Owen Lowe was untroubled throughout the game. The fairplay award was given to Liam Ruiz for another tireless midfield performance.
