U9 Vipers
Rotherfield were lively from the outset and Jack Stevens was unlucky not to open the scoring after five minutes when a sweetly hit shot struck the Woodley post. Shortly after, another Stevens effort was well saved by the keeper, but this time Nick Swan was on hand to tuck away the rebound and give Rotherfield the lead. Woodley began to apply pressure of their own but some resolute defending by Morgan Green and Jack Williams for United meant that by half-time the Rotherfield keeper had hardly been troubled.
In the second-half, United were soon 2-0 in front after a great strike by Swan from the edge of the penalty area found its way into the Woodley goal. The Hammers were by no means out of the game though; a few minutes later a strong run from their number seven ended with a low shot which narrowly beat diving keeper Harry Sayer, taking the score to 2-1. Not to be outdone, Rotherfield were soon back on the attack and restored their two goal advantage when Swan again found the target from distance.
Woodley responded and on two occasions came close to getting a goal back but were denied by a pair of miraculous saves from keeper Owen Lowe. Eventually the Hammers did find the net after Rotherfield let their concentration lapse, responding too late to a quickly taken short corner.
Five minutes from time United made it safe when on-fire Swan netted his fourth, taking advantage of a goalkeeping mishap and slipping the ball into the empty Woodley goal.
The fairplay award was given to Owen Lowe for an outstanding goalkeeping contribution.
