Rotherfield United 7 Woodley Saints 1
June 3rd 2006

Rotherfield made a slow start this week and spent the first five minutes of the game pegged back inside their own half. Striker Jack Stevens eventually turned the tide in United's favour when he collected the ball on the half-way line, broke through the Woodley defense and scored with a fine individual effort.

United's confidence returned, and shortly after, a through-ball from defender Jack Williams found Stevens again who neatly slipped the ball past the Saints' goalie to make it 2-0.

After half-time, Rotherfield added a third with a good passing move; Front-men Stevens and Fearnside exchanged a series of one-twos before Fearnside fired in from close range. Woodley were still in the game though, and got a goal back with a great solo run which started from inside their own half.

United restored their three goal cushion moments later when Stevens got on the end of a Fearnside pass to complete his hat-trick. Midfielder Liam Ruiz then broke through into the Saints area only to be brought down for a penalty; Ruiz himself got up and calmly tucked the ball into the bottom corner to make it 5-1.

Late on, Owen Lowe grabbed his tenth of the season when he deftly turned the ball in from a corner. Rotherfield added a seventh just before the end with a joint effort by Lowe and Nick Swan (who appeared to kick the ball at the same time!)

The fairplay award was given to Liam Ruiz for another tireless midfield performance.
