Rotherfield 0 Woodley Town Kestrels 4
June 7th 2008

The players and fans alike knew that this was going to be a great game, albeit nail biting at times. Rotherfield began really sluggishly and their usual free flowing passing game took a while to get going.

Kestrels peppered the Rotherfield keeper with shots and like a jack in the box, Isaac Hylton popped up and was making some fantastic saves. The Kestrels pressure continued and the defenders Kalhan Shah and Jack Williams fought like Trojans to keep them at bay.

Suddenly the Kestrels were awarded a free kick about 25 yards from goal, their player hit the ball sweetly, giving Hylton no chance, as the ball rippled the back of the net.

Rotherfield were trying to counter attack with some fine runs and one touch passing from Morgan Green, Liam Ruiz, Jack Stevens & Nick Swan but the end product of a goal wasn't there which isn't like Rotherfield, its like a cake with no icing.

Before half-time the tough tackling Owen Lowe was brought in to sure things up at the back and was defending superbly, but it wasn't long before Kestrels made it two nil.

In the second half Rotherfield came out with fire in their bellies and looked better and sharper, Green was providing the ammunition to the forwards, but it just wasn't their day. Ruiz powerfully met a Green pass that whizzed over the bar, Swan in a matter of minutes had two fabulous shots that the Kestrels keeper saved and put wide.

The whole team were getting stuck in at the back, Shah, Williams, Lowe were making last gasp tackles in a bid to thwart the Kestrels attack and when they broke through, Superman Hylton was inspirational saving practically everything they fired at him.

On the counter attack after a majestic winding run and pass from Stevens, Green smashed the ball into the side netting. Shortly after, a quick-fire two goals broke Rotherfield hearts thus ending the chance of any comeback, and there the game ended 4-0.

Although the whole team played immensely better in the second half, the Fair Play award was given to Isaac Hylton, who's heroics in goal kept Rotherfield in the game.
