Rotherfield United 4 Woodley Saints Lions 2
September 16th 2006

Rotherfield made another fine start in what was their second league outing of the season. Within five minutes they were 2-0 ahead thanks to close-range efforts from Adam Fearnside and Jack Stevens. Liam Ruiz added another shortly after when he was in the right place at the right time to capitalize on a long-range Nick Swan effort which the 'keeper was only able to parry. Woodley however were building good pressure of their own and only a succession of saves from Owen Lowe throughout the half enabled United to reach half-time with a clean sheet.

Straight after the break Fearnside poached another to make it 4-0 and seemingly make the game safe; The Saints however had different ideas and began a spirited fight-back. Fortunately, debutant United goalie Isaac Hylton was in great form, snuffing out a number of Woodley attacks, but midway through the half the pressure finally told and the Saints got one back. Right at the death, they grabbed a second but time was against them and Rotherfield ran out 4-2 winners.

This week, the fairplay award was shared between goalkeepers Owen Lowe and Isaac Hylton who each did a superb job of defending the United goal.
