Rotherfield made it five wins out of five this week with a 3-0 victory over Maidenhead Magpies. Adam Fearnside opened the scoring after five minutes when a quick throw-in found him with space to run at the Magpies defense and eventually slot the ball past the stranded 'keeper. Maidenhead were well organised though and repeatedly caused danger of their own from their goalkeeper's long clearances; thankfully, Owen Lowe was in fine form at the other end in the United goal, pulling off a succession of good saves to keep the score at 1-0.
Midfielder Morgan Green came close to adding a second for Rotherfield with a beautifully struck long distance effort, but it was matched by an equally good Magpies save. Eventually, Rotherfield's pressure did lead to another goal; a fine Nick Swan pass found Fearnside on the edge of he box who was able to turn and fire the ball into the far corner for his seventeenth of the season.
In the second-half, Jack Stevens began to see more of the ball for United in midfield and a succession of strong runs and good passes put Maidenhead on the back foot. Eventually, one such run led to a well-hit cross which found a perfectly placed Owen Lowe who turned it in to make it 3-0.
Maidenhead did try and get forward to get themselves back in the game, but Jack Williams was solid at the back, helping Rotherfield to keep a clean-sheet for the second week in a row.
The fairplay award was given to Jack Stevens for an influencial second-half display.
