Rotherfield United 6 Caversham Trents 0
September 22nd 2007

Rotherfield won 6-0 for the second consecutive week thereby keeping their unbeaten run going and keeping their third consecutive clean sheet.

The opening exchanges would set the pattern for the rest of the game with Rotherfield camped in the the opposition's half firing in shots on the Trents goal. Frustratingly chance after chance went begging before Newbold managed to lob the keeper and give United a well earned lead. Luke Mullin in the Rotherfield goal was a lonely figure as the one way traffic continued and it came as no surprise when Kemp added to the lead with a well taken shot from outside the box.

The second half mirrored the first as Rotherfield continued to go forward leaving Beville in the Makelele roll to mop up any counter attacks. Inevitably goals followed, Newbold again after a mistake by the keeper and the pick of the bunch with a ferocious drive from the left foot of Martinez.

Trents threw caution to the wind and did manage a few forays into the Rotherfield half but they were thwarted by the tough tackling William Mullin. This inevitably left holes at the back and Beville took full advantage finishing well from an Atkinson pass. In the closing minutes Newbold completed a well earned hat-trick and set the seal on a comprehensive victory.

The effort award went to Christian Floyd who played superbly in defence and completed a 300 mile round trip to play in the match.
