A hard working and professional performance enabled Rotherfield to maintain their unbeaten start to the season and to keeping an amazing 6th consecutive clean sheet.
Rotherfield have been notorious slow starters this season but this week they were very quickly out of the blocks and putting immediate pressure on the Whitchurch goal. It did not take long for the first goal to come. A sweeping move down the right by Newbold led to a cross come shot, which was stabbed home by the prolific Kemp. A second quickly followed as Atkinson danced down the right wing bamboozling the Whitchurch defence and then, with the aid of a slight deflection, powered it past the shell-shocked Whitchurch keeper. Half time beckoned but there was still time for Kemp to help himself to a second. Roe picked up a loose ball in midfield and then with the aid of an exquisite pass picked out Kemp on the edge of the box who smashed his volley into the roof of the net.
The second half was a much more even affair with Whitchurch looking dangerous on the counter attack and forcing a superb reaction save from stand in keeper Newbold. Despite a few scares William Mullin marshalled the defence to yet another shut out and the record was kept intact.
