A refreshed Rotherfield came back from the mid season break and gave their most impressive performance so far. Rotherfield seemed to have found a new dimension to their play with a stunning pass and move game that at times was simply breathtaking.
The Rotherfield forwards were quickly into their stride with Roe and Atkinson both raiding down the flanks and feeding Kemp and Newbold through the middle. The tactic paid off when Roe crossed for Newbold who duly converted. A second quickly followed as a stunning passing move starting deep within the Utd half finished with Kemp finishing with supreme confidence from close range. It was now Atkinson's turn to get on the score sheet. After showing supreme skill to get past two defenders he played a one two with Beville and then stroked the ball home from outside the area. Kemp then doubled his tally and scored the goal of the match with an unstoppable free kick from an acute angle.
The second half brought more of the same with Rotherfield straight back on the front foot with Newbold getting back into the action and scoring two goals in quick succession to complete his hat trick. The onslaught continued with Floyd's cross come shot forcing a Shinfield defender into giving a penalty for handball which Atkinson buried into the corner. Another flowing move led to Luke Mullin delivering a pin point cross which Newbold duly stroked home. Then Mullin got his own reward scoring from the penalty spot after a second hand ball.
Praise must also go to the defence of Floyd Beville and William Mullin and Roe for keeping their eighth successive clean sheet.
The effort award went to Sam Kemp for another goal scoring performance.
