U12
After last weekends goal fest, Rotherfield U12's bagged their first win of the new season with a strong second half display against Streatley Strikers. With an unchanged side the boys again started slowly until Daniel Slater came to life with a trademark burst from deep, leaving two defenders in his wake only to see his shot cannon back off the keepers legs straight into the path of Luke Pitson who kept cool to blast in his third goal in two games. This should've been the platform for more goals but as with the week before goalkeeper Tristan Chamberlain was called upon to make a string of fine saves until some lack luster defending cost the boys dearly when a scramble in the box ended up with Streatley equalising. This called for a change and Elliott Glass was introduced to bring a bit of composure to the team and he immediately made his impact felt by notching his first goal for the A's with a calmly placed shot into the corner to put Rotherfield 2-1 up at half time. With Elliott Harper and Olly Williams bossing the midfield and the outstanding defensive partnership of Markland Tidswell and Matthew Slater snuffing out any threat, Rotherfield turned on the style with some free flowing football that had their supporters drooling. Chance after chance was created until Dan Slater deservedly got on the scoresheet, tapping home after fine work again by man of the match Elliott Glass.
